Leverkusen continued their defence of the DFB-Pokal title after beating 10-man Bayern Munich 1-0 after Manuel Neuer was sent off early in the football game.

In the 11th minute of the game, Leverkusen had a chance to score. When Piero Incapie passed the ball to Florian Wirtz who took a right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area. But the ball went just wide of the post.

Bayern were reduced to 10 men in the 17th minute when Manuel Neuer came out to intercept the ball on the edge of the penalty area. But was sent off for a foul on Jeremy Frimpong, forcing Vincent Kompany to replace Leroy Sane with Daniel Peretz in goal.

The away team had a chance. Jeremie Frimpong passed the ball to Florian Wirtz who shot with his right foot. But he bent his ankle too much, causing the ball to go wide of the goal post.
Leverkusen replaced the injured Patrik Schick with Nathan Tella in the 51st minute and just eight minutes into the game. Tella was a super sub and scored the opening goal for his team. When he headed home Alex Grimaldo’s cross, leaving Peretz with no chance to save it.
Bayern made their final change in the 73rd minute. Sending on Serge Gnabry, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Sacha Boi to replace Coman, Goretzka and Laimer.
In the remaining time, Bayern could not equalize. So the game ended with Leverkusen winning 1-0 and continuing their path to defending the championship. While the Southern Tigers were eliminated.
